This second approach is needed when you already know your Apple_HFS volume is actually of classic HFS – or you tried solution #1 and you got this error… Plain HFS volumes not currently supported T hat’s it! (if no error is shown) You should be able to browse all contents in the mounted directory & get your files! NOTE: you have to adjust /path/to/empty/folder, to the folder location you created before! In Terminal.app use the following command to mount the HFS+ volume: sudo hfsfuse -force -o noatime /dev/ /path/to/empty/folder It doesn’t matter where you create this folder.

Now install the «hfsfuse» driver using the following command in the Terminal:.NOTE: if the unzipped folder is not in your user’s /Downloads/-folder, then adjust the path accordingly! Open to the Terminal.app (from Applications » Utilities)& navigate into the unzipped hfsfuse-master-folder using cd-command and the path where you unzipped the folder:.Download the ZIP of hfsfuse from their official GitHub project page:.Both solutions work alongside each other. I definitely recommend to start with approach #1 if you can. Unfortunate for me, I had to go down the road of the 2nd approach.īut fortunate for you, because I can explain you here both approaches. HFS – the “oh f*ck” case: a more complex, technical solution.HFS+ Plus – best case: a simple and well supported solution.% diskutil listģ: > Apple_HFS <<<< 653.5 MB disk3s1s2īut for sure you can somehow teach macOS Catalina the ancient language of «HFS» – Apple’s own Hierarchical File System format – right?īringing back HFS support to macOS comes in 2 variations: If you think the volume is supported but damaged, try the "readOnly" optionīy inspecting the technical details of the disk lead me to a clue, that the old – in the meantime unsupported – Apple_HFS format may be the issue.

#MACFUSE NOT SHOWING CONTENT FOR MAC#

After I allowed the software, Tuxera NTFS for Mac started working again. So I wanted to backup an old DVD disc digitally in macOS Catalina, but to my surprise it was not mountable using Disk Utility – only showing the error: Could not mount ( error 49153)Īnd by using the following Terminal.app command it did not work either, not giving more clues about the underlaying error unfortunately: % diskutil mount disk3s1s2 I traced this error to Gatekeeper in macOS 10.13. The MacFUSE file system is not available (71) System/Library/Filesystems/fusefs_txantfs.fs//Support/10.9/tufs/tufsfs.kext failed to load -… check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). On booting macOS, I would get the error message:

This seemed to work ok until I installed the macOS High Sierra Developer Beta 2 Update 1 (17A291m). When Paragon NTFS for Mac 15 stopped working in my situation with Dropbox, I decided to try the commercial version of Tuxera’s NTFS for Mac. With earlier versions of MacOS, I had used the open source NTFS-3g.

On the Windows side, I haven’t found something that will read the Apple File System (APFS) in macOS 10.13. I was very happy with Paragon NTFS for Mac 15 until I started getting kernel panics. In the macOS (High Sierra), NTFS read/write capability is not native. I opened a support ticket with Paragon Software and a few days later they sent me a new version that had the same problem.įor interoperability between the two OSs, read/write capability really helps. Every time I started Dropbox, I would get a kernel panic. I don’t know if it’s a good idea, but my Dropbox directory for both Windows and Mac is the same directory on an NTFS volume.

One of the recent problems I encountered with macOS High Sierra (17A291j) was a kernel panic when I was using Paragon NTFS for Mac 15 with Dropbox (v30.3.14).

#MACFUSE NOT SHOWING CONTENT WINDOWS 10#

As of today, that is Windows 10 Build 16232.1000 and macOS 10.13 beta 2 (17A291m).Ī lot of the time, things don’t work because I am running beta OSs with released apps. I run both of these OSs on a Macbook Pro Retina (mid-2012). I try to keep up with the latest Windows and macOSs by participating in the Windows Insider Preview program and the Apple Developer Program.
